Cahaya Campus Johor Celebrate Sports Day
It was that time of year again when every student looks forward to having loads of fun while competing on the sports field. That event is none other than the ‘Sports Day 2015’ at R.E.A.L Schools, Cahaya Campus in Johor Bahru, held on 10 April 2015.
Preparations ranging from props and decorations to students conducting private practice sessions for their individual events began weeks prior. It is part of the R.E.A.L philosophy that promoting a healthy, active lifestyle and providing opportunities for healthy sportsmanship and collaborative skills go a long way in preparing young lives for life’s challenges.
After the opening march parade and cheerleading performances led by the respective House leaders, the opening speech was presented by Cahaya Campus General Manager, Ms. Stephanie Chieng. The event proper commenced soon after; and it was evident from the get-go that a lot of time, care and energy went into making the Sports Day successful and fun-filled.
Every student gave their all in cheering for their Houses and displayed noteworthy sportsmanship. The teachers too, were getting involved by shouting their support and giving assurances to the participants for a job well done. The individual track & field events were the:
- 100 metres;
- 200 metres;
- 400 metres;
- 800 metres;
- 1,600 metres; and
- High jump.
Mini games were organized for the Primary students and there was even a tug-of-war tournament which pitted participants from both the international and national schools. With so much activity and entertainment going on simultaneously, the four-hour duration of the event just flew by.
The eagerly-anticipated trophy presentation brought an end to the annual sports meet. Despite tired limbs, everyone went home with smiles on their faces along with fun memories of being with friends. Everything ran smoothly thanks to the combined efforts of all the staff and excellent spirit of every student.
