Cheras Campus Commends Academic Achievers
Acknowledging the importance of recognizing and rewarding students’ achievements, R.E.A.L Schools, Cheras Campus organized its annual ‘R.E.A.L Academic Awards’ for its National Senior section in January this year. Award recipients, consisting of this year’s Senior 2, 3 and 5 students, were selected based on their 2015 academic performance and excellent results last year.
The simple yet significant award ceremony was held concurrently with the school assembly at the campus’ Hall of Character. An opening speech by Mr. Yu Weng Hong, Senior Principal of R.E.A.L Schools, Cheras Campus’ Senior Section, commenced proceedings. In his address, Mr. Yu expressed his congratulations and best wishes to the awardees. The Awards serve as a way to further encourage or motivate students to continue striving for excellence and not rest on their laurels.
Spread over two days, the event was branched into the Upper and Lower Senior students, with the former taking place on the first day (19th January) and the latter the following day. The awards were given to the best academic achievers in the following categories:
- ‘Best Performance’ (Highest percentage for entire level) for Senior 1, 2 and 4;
- ‘Best Progress’ (Highest improvement in percentage between second and third term examinations) for Senior 1, 2 and 4; and
- ‘Best in Subject’ (Highest marks for entire level)
A spirited rendition of the school song by both teachers and students concluded the ceremony on a high note. On the whole, it was an inspiring and memorable two-day event for the Cheras Campus community who, together as one, celebrated their fellow peers’ outstanding academic feats with humility and honour. It also served to advocate exemplary character values that extend beyond the classroom such as determination and diligence in reaching one’s goals.
In the end, it was a proud day for the award winners who walked away with more than just trophies and certificates. They have gained a renewed sense of accomplishment, pride and confidence in their potential and abilities; ready to take on the next challenge in their educational journey. Their achievements would also go a long way in spurring others to follow suit in emulating similar excellence.
