Cheras Campus Talents Marvel at Singing Meet
The midway point of 2017 saw R.E.A.L Schools, Cheras Campus hold its 7th Chinese Singing Competition at the school’s Hall of Character. Once again, the competition brought together the school’s budding singers to the fore, as students were given the opportunity to show off their vocal prowess.
Preparations had already been underway since the end of last year when auditions were held to shortlist the finalists in three categories; namely ‘Lower Senior Solo’ comprising 7 students, ‘Upper Senior Solo’ with 5 students and ‘Group Singing’ which saw 5 groups battling it out to be the best.
Lai Koon Kit from Senior 5 got the competition off to a rousing start with a captivating piano performance. This was swiftly followed by the first competition session of the day by the Lower Senior Solo contestants, who showcased exceptional singing talent and outstanding vocal skills.
A special video dedication then paved the way for the Upper Senior Solo finalists to take the stage and wow the crowd. Soon after, another piano recital kept the entertainment going, this time by Wong Wei Han from Senior 3. The competition proper ended with a bang as the Group Singing contestants finally took centre stage to amaze an adoring and appreciative audience as well as the judges.
One of the three judges, Mr. Soon KC, was then invited to share some comments about the students’ performance; before receiving a small gift by the school along with his fellow judges as tokens of appreciation for their service. The event culminated with the eagerly-anticipated prize-giving ceremony during which the top three finishers from each of the following categories were summoned on stage again to receive their prizes and plaudits:
