It was a fun day out for the community of R.E.A.L Schools, Shah Alam Campus as the school jointly held its R.E.A.L Family Day and Junior Concert 2016. Over 800 students, teachers and parents gathered to witness and enjoy this year’s edition of the events which offered a range of exciting activities and entertainment dished out by the students themselves.

2016_sa_familydayThe air of anticipation was palpable as the R.E.A.L Family Day kicked off with a host of items that offered something for everyone. From artistic ‘face painting’ to the adrenaline-pumping ‘go-kart racing’ and even a ‘bouncy castle’, children of all ages were thoroughly entertained for hours on end. In keeping with the carnival-like atmosphere, various food and game stalls were also set up; offering tasty refreshments and traditional games that completed the whole fun and festive celebration.

One of the main attractions of this year’s R.E.A.L Family Day was the petting zoo; which treated visitors to a unique experience of getting ‘up close and personal’ with a range of cute pets and barn animals such as ducks, chickens and pigeons. It was indeed a rare opportunity for children to see these live animals and being able to feed and play with them within a makeshift enclosure.

2016_sa_familyday_02Taking place concurrently with R.E.A.L Family Day was the year-end Junior Concert, which attracted a total of 280 students this time around, the highest ever for the annual event. They participated in the staging of ‘Urashima Taro’, a Japanese folktale which tells the story of a poor fisherman who found his destiny under the sea. The students presented a spectacular performance which featured a myriad of colourful dances; accompanied by captivating songs which the young performers had either sung or played on various musical instruments.

As the curtains went down on another successfully-organized Junior Concert and R.E.A.L Family Day, the Shah Alam Campus community is able to reflect on a truly fun-filled and memorable day when new stage talents were discovered and a greater spirit of camaraderie and togetherness was fostered. Part of the funds raised was also donated to help the poor and needy. This noteworthy cause merely added to the feel-good factor of the events.
