The R.E.A.L Toastmasters Club, established for almost 10 years, has proven to be a great platform in improving public speaking while advocating leadership and effective communication skills through its unique system of peer evaluation. Today, the club stands strong with a membership of over 30 members who benefit from the training and exposure the club provides in order to be a better public speaker.

From humble beginnings, the club has now blossomed into one that is known for producing speakers of high calibre and standards. This was particularly evident during recently-held events, namely the ‘International Speech and Table Topics Contest 2016/17’.

On the 8th of March 2017, R.E.A.L Toastmasters organized its club-level contests and only the 1st place contestants for both the Speech and Table Topics category were sent to pit their skills against speakers from six other clubs in the Area Level contests.

MAIN PICEvery contestant gave it their best shot, delivering captivating speeches much to the delight and benefit of the audience although the judges had the tough task of selecting the winner. Despite facing stiff competition however, it was Ms. Malarini Vemalarajah (Mala) and Ng Sek-yan (Seki) who emerged victorious in the International Speech and Table Topics contests respectively. Sek-yan came close to a clean sweep by finishing runner-up in the former category.

There was more good news in store for both club and contestants when both Mala and Seki competed in the Area C3 contest by virtue of being top place finishers in the club contests. Held on 19th of March 2017, the Area contest saw all six C3 clubs converge in a battle to find the ‘best of the best’.

Once again, the R.E.A.L Toastmasters Club proved its worth as a force to be reckoned with, when both Mala and Seki came out triumphs by being CHAMPIONS of their respective category! Congratulations to both on their stellar achievement and we wish them all the best in their bid to reach greater heights in the world of public speaking and making their Club and Area proud.
