NEWS & EVENTS:
Recognizing REAL Excellence
In order to breed excellence, it is vital to recognize it as well. The annual R.E.A.L Excellence Awards is a platform on which outstanding student achievements in both academic and non-academic endeavours throughout the previous year are recognized and celebrated. This year’s edition of the awards ceremony proved no different.
Held on 9 April 2016 at R.E.A.L Schools’ Cheras Campus, the event commenced with a welcome address by Ms. S.P. Lee, General Manager of Cheras Campus. In her speech, Mr. Lee mentioned that the yearly gathering serves as an official stage to honour the hard work and impeccable work ethics of every student achiever. Their discipline, determination, dedication and desire have indeed inspired fellow peers and juniors alike to dream bigger and aim higher in the spirit of excellence, she added.
Ms. Lee also reminded students that the character they display, the words they speak and their day-to-day actions must always be guided by the values they believe in and those which R.E.A.L Schools firmly upholds and practices. She also thanked all teachers whose patience and commitment never waver in guiding students who face difficulties or challenges in their studies.
The programme proper then commenced with the eagerly-awaited awards presentation itself; punctuated by lively and colourful performances that include a Malaysian cultural dance, a traditional Korean-themed fan dance and a live band performance that were dished out by both Junior and Senior students alike. The individual accolades awarded were to the top scorers of the following exams:
- UPSR 2015 (5A and 4A students)
- PT3 2015 (8A, 7A and 6A students)
- SPM 2015 (11A, 10A, 9A, 8A and 7A students)
Meanwhile, the Co-Curricular Activities or CCA Awards were given out to pay tribute to exceptional performances and results in non-academic fields, particularly sports. This year’s event saw students being lauded for bagging gold, silver and bronze medals in the following sporting meets:
- 20th National Junior Judo Championship
- Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM) Swimming Competition
- Majlis Sukan Sekolah Selangor (MSSS) Swimming and Basketball Competitions
Other special awards that were presented include the Teachers’ Awards; which pay homage to the outstanding contribution of every teacher who taught, guided and inspired the top UPSR, PT3 and SPM achievers. The Surian Awards is another coveted category that fittingly and traditionally closes the ceremony by recognizing students who display all-round excellence in academics, extracurricular involvement and character.
